Aysgarth

A warm welcome is extended to visitors to ‘Aysgarth’ – a chalet style bungalow with far reaching views over farmland.

Accommodation comprises of: Ground floor – 1 double en suite room and 1 twin en suite room. First floor – 1 double room with a private bathroom. All rooms have colour TV and hospitality tray. Parking is off road and we are a non-smoking establishment.

We do not offer evening meals but can recommend various pubs and restaurants in the locality – but we usually welcome guests with a pot of tea or coffee when they first arrive! Full English or continental breakfast available, using as much local produce as possible. Whilst eating breakfast, guests can enjoy watching the many species of birds feeding in the garden – and in the summer evenings, a family of hedgehogs can be seen feeding!

‘Aysgarth’ is in the village of East Stour, 4.5 miles west of Shaftesbury in the Blackmore Vale. Although in Dorset, we are very close to the borders of Wiltshire and Somerset. This is an ideal location to visit many of the varied visitor attractions in all 3 counties.
Many of the following are just a few miles away, and all not more then a 60 minute drive: Prehistoric sites – Stonehenge, numerous Dorset Hill Forts, Jurassic Coastline, Glastonbury.
National Trust – Stourhead, Montacute, Kingston Lacy, Barrington Court, Corfe Castle and many more.
English Heritage – Sherborne Old Castle, Wardour Castle, Old Sarum, Portland.
Historic towns – Shaftesbury, Sherborne, Salisbury, Bath, Dorchester.
Museums – Fleet Air Arm, Sparkford Motor Museum, Bovington Tank Museum, Dorchester County and local market towns.
Gardens – Athelhampton, Stourhead, Minterne Gardens.
Other – Longleat House and Safari Park, Abbotsbury Swannery, Monkey World, Cheddar Caves.

Folow A30 signed East Stour/Sherborne/Yeovil to junction with B3092 at East Stour. Turn right, signposted Gillingham, Aysgarth is approximately 0.5 mile on right-hand side.

Public Transport Directions

From Gillingham - 2 miles
From Station Road, turn right at traffic lights, bear right at mini-roundabout. Take first right (B3092) signed East Stour/ Sturminster Newton. Approximately 2 miles to Aysgarth on left-hand side.
